Raymond “Ray” Lee Jolivette, 74, of Hampstead, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, with his family by his side.
He was born on March 31, 1947, in Pine Bush, NY, to the late Raymond and Bernice Opal (Frank) Jolivette.
Ray, a US Navy Vietnam War veteran, served aboard the USS Hornet CV-12 during recovery operations for the Apollo 11 and 12 space missions. He loved to cook and was always throwing people out of his kitchen. Ray enjoyed carpentry and even built his own home in Montgomery, NY. Later in life, Ray was a Volunteer Walker with the Topsail Sea Turtle Project, where his wife, Susie is also a volunteer. Strong willed and uncompromising of character, Ray was never afraid to speak his mind. He will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him.
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Suzanne (Conklin) Jolivette; his son, Chris Braun and wife, Pamela; his daughters, Michelle Berman and husband, William, Danielle Crawford and husband, Michael; his sisters, Evelyn “Tottie” Monell, Darlene McKinnon, Audrey “Birdie” Cone; and 10 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ray was also preceded in death by his sister, Raetta Decker.
