Richard McDowell Obituary

Richard Douglas McDowell, 72, of Watha left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Sunday, August 15, 2021.

He was born on July 31, 1949, in North Branch, MI; the son of the late Robert and Dorothy Beach McDowell.  He was also predeceased by his siblings, Michael, and Judy.

Richard proudly served his country in the US Air Force where he worked on ballistic missiles for the United States of America.  He loved his country and was proud to be an American.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his best friend and loving wife of 6 years, Theresa "Terry" Maria Hernandez McDowell; his children, Vicki McDowell of Boerne, TX, Ronald “Ron” McDowell of Seattle, WA, Diane Zachary of Phoenix. AZ, Schelly Rosario of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Danielle, Jaclyn, Joshua, Jenna, Jared, Robert, Madelyn, Taryn, Ayshia, and Arlo; great grandchildren, Elijah, soon to be born, Ava Marie, and Niyahni; and numerous nieces, nephew, extended family and friends.

Richard was devoted husband and caring father, grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly.  He enjoyed being outside in God’s beautiful world tending to his well-loved and well-cared for sheep, dogs and horses. He also enjoyed tinkering on things around the farm.  Richard was sometimes called a ‘project technician’ because he had so many projects that he was working on, all at one time.  Richard loved life to its fullest and was a good neighbor and friend.  With a heart of gold, he would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Most of all, Richard loved Terry with all of his heart. Together, they made a great team.  Richard will surely be missed but treasured memories will forever live in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love him.
