Robert George Bryant

     Robert George Bryant, 91, of Burgaw, NC, peacefully slipped into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 20, 2025. He was born November 14, 1934 in Wilmington, the son of Edward King Bryant and Alice Elise Congleton Bryant.

    Robert was a man of striking personality, a famously stubborn spirit, and—above all—a deeply giving heart. As the owner of The Western Shop, he took immense pride in the business he built and the work he performed. He was a man of simple tastes who held a grand appreciation for the beauty of God’s nature.

     As a respected member of his community Robert served as the Worshipful Master of Orient Lodge No. 395 A.F. & A.M. in 1978. Beyond his formal titles, he was known for his quiet compassion. Many stories are told of Robert hearing of neighbors in need and anonymously offering a helping hand to see them through hard times.

     Robert is survived by his love, Rebecca (Becky) Bryant; his daughter, Beverly; and his cherished grandchildren, Michael Jay McKeithan and his daughter Hazel, Robert Allen McKeithan and his daughter Alyssa, Bryson and Natalie. He is also survived by his siblings,  Alice Tolar (James), Charles Bryant, David Bryant and his children Alex and Brittany, and Clinton Bryant and his children, Clint Jr. (Carol), Jennifer (Russell), and Traci (Garrett);  Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Elise; his daughter, Debbie; and his brothers, Sonny and Gene.

     In all things, Robert was a simple man who adored his family. He held a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews, who will always remember their "Uncle Boom-Boom" with love. He will be deeply missed, and his family finds comfort in knowing he is finally at rest.

     The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Detective Sergeant Mark Lobel and the Pender County Sheriff's Office. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s memory to Penderosa Rescue and Sanctuary, 256 Lamb Road, Willard, NC 28478.
