Robert Melvin

Robert Melvin, 87, of Wilmington, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center.

He was born on June 13, 1937, in Wilmington, NC.

Robert was a Navy veteran. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed playing golf and exercising.  He retired as Chief of Police after 38 years of service at the North Carolina State Port Authority at Wilmington.

In addition to his wife, Naomi Devane Melvin, Robert is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Woodell (Bobby); his daughter, Terria McLeod (William); his son, Todd Melvin (Darlene); his grandchildren Robbie, Heather, Jamie, Brandon, Emma, and Ava; and his great grandchildren, Jadah, Samantha, Dalton, Adyson, William, Asher, Amelia, and Sawyer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Robert’s memory may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice.

All services will be private.
