Robert Matthews Simpson, Sr., 70, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 19, 2025.
He was born November 29, 1954 in Robeson County, the son of Wistar Franklin Simpson, Jr. and Frances Benien Simpson, both who preceded Robert in death.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Sheila Simpson; sons, Franklyn Simpson and Robert Matthews Simpson, Jr. (Lisa); daughter, Amanda Simpson Brown (Scott); grandson, Nick “Lil Nick” King (Alyssa); step grandchildren, David Huemme and Heather Huemme; great grandchildren, Ryder King, Asher King, Sam Huemme, and Brie Huemme; siblings, Frayser Simpson, James Ross (Leslie), and Cathy Hibbs; several nieces and nephews including Wendy Bachand (Chris) and Larry Springer (Leslie); and many extended family members and friends.
Robert was a diligent and hard worker, always giving his all to anything he undertook and a diligent provider for his family. Robert was happiest when outdoors – hunting, fishing or just spending time in God’s wonderful world of nature. With his heart of gold Robert was an outstanding husband, daddy, granddaddy, great granddad, and loyal friend to many. Robert adored family gatherings where he roasted a pig or grilled something good for his cherished family and friends. Robert was loved and his presence in our lives will surely be missed.
