Robert "Bob" Fairchild Esty

Robert Fairchild Esty, known as Bob, unfortunately passed away at home on the evening of April 17, 2021 at the young age 62.

He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1958 on September 12th to the late Nancy Fairchild Esty and Charles Place Esty. 

Bob grew up in New England and became a truck driver for 18 years and then moved to North Carolina with his children to pursue his passion of woodworking and was a talented carpenter and dedicated father for the rest of his life. He was strong, humorous, proud, intelligent, caring, encouraging, and peaceful. Bob enjoyed building, boating, fishing, gardening, cooking, video gaming, reading, puzzles, and many other activities but loved spending time with his family the most. He overcame many struggles with the drive to keep living and loving the best he could while always being there for his loved ones. Bob was a beautiful hearted man who always had a perfectly timed joke, a nonjudgmental attitude, and logical advice. He was often outside barefoot, shirtless, and with his hair in a ponytail tinkering away. He survived a heart attack and a Pandemic by being careful and looked forward to traveling with Lisa after receiving their second covid vaccine. He was full of life making many plans right before his sudden and untimely death. His whole family is heartbroken and misses him deeply. His quick wit and loving heart will be fondly remembered.

He will be missed by his soulmate of ten years Lisa Odom, siblings Katherine and Chris Wejchert, Bill and Wendy Esty, and Tom and Jen Esty, his beloved daughters Sarah (Alan) Cloutier, Caitlin (Gary) Esty, Aleah (Mitchell) Carlton, Brianna (Kyle) Esty, and his precious grandchildren Ryan (Hailey), Ava, Shayla, Nathaniel, Zoey, Alayna, and Sabrina, other extended family and everyone who knew him.

A vistation will be held from 10 am – 12 pm on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington. Bob’s final rest place will be Wildwood Cemetery in Amherst, MA and will take place at a later date.
