Rodney Gilven Jordan, Sr., 82, of Burgaw passed from his earthly life Friday, September 3, 2021 at his home.
He was born September 18, 1938 in Pender County, the son of Roy Lee Jordan and Sadie Cavenaugh Jordan. In addition to his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Taylor Walker; and brothers, Zeblin Jordan and Raymond Jordan.
Rodney is survived by his daughter, Kay Bradshaw (Kevin); sons, Rodney Jordan, Jr,, Daniel Jordan (Margie), and Chris Jordan (Lori); grandchildren, William Bradshaw, Joshua Bradshaw, Andrew Jordan, Patrick Jordan, Zachary Jordan, Justin Valade, Kourtney Valade, Christa Padgett, Kristin Marshburn, Elizabeth Marshburn, David Marshburn, Justin Gray, and Ally Walker; ten cherished great grandchildren; sister, Linda Webber; and many nieces and nephews. Not to be forgotten is Rodney’s furry companion, Sam.
Rodney was a member of Jordans Chapel United Methodist Church. By career he was a skilled welder and prior to his retirement he worked at several companies in Wilmington. Loved his job and was good at it.
Having many passions in life, Rodney enjoyed fishing, boiling peanuts, gardening, working in his yard, and visiting Hardees with his dog, Sam. Best of all Rodney loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rodney was a man of few words with a big heart and a quiet concern for others. Rodney’s presence on this earth will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Jordans Chapel UMC with funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Reverend William Hill Pearsall will be conducting the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
