Sandra Mae (Shambley) Coombs

     Sandra (Sandy) S. Coombs, 69, of Rocky Point passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

     She was born May 1,1952 in Mebane, NC, the daughter of the late Jesse Shambley and Annie Dixon Shambley and sister of the late David Phil Shambley.

     She is survived by her son, Glenn Coombs and wife, Amy; seven grandchildren, Christopher Savage (Ashlynn), Sean Coombs (Ashley), Kimberly Kane (Nicolas), Nicole Brown (Arthur), Kaytie Mitchell (Chris), Matthew Cather (Hannah), and Cona Coombs; and 16 great grandchildren and another great grandchild to be born in April of 2022.

     Sandra was a loving mother, grandma, and Gigi. She was thought highly of by all family, friends, and coworkers. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings at her home and being surrounded by family and friends. Sandra was a sharing, caring lady as was evidenced by all of her donations of craft materials to The Laurels of Pender Activity Center. She was a firm believer in the Lord and devoted her life to Christ at an early age.

     A memorial service to celebrate Sandra’s life will be 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 19, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel. Family will receive friends immediately following the service.

     In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to The Laurels of Pender Activity Center, 311 S. Campbell Street, Burgaw, NC 28425.
