Sarah Elizabeth (Hicks) Howard

     Sarah Elizabeth Howard, age 73, of Watha passed from her earthly life to her heavenly home on Thursday, September 26, 2024.

     She was born January 15, 1951, in Wilmington, the daughter of James Wallace Hicks and Dorcas Piner Hicks. In addition to her parents Sarah was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Lee Howard; and sisters, Emily Kay McCracken and Donna Lynn Carr.

     Sarah is survived by her sons, Jimmy Lee Howard, Sr. (Roxann) and Gordon Dean Howard (Patricia); grandchildren, Jimmy Lee Howard, Jr. (Patricia), Samantha Murray (Tony), and Kristopher Howard (Kristen); great grandchildren, Ryan, Keven, Isabella, Jase, and Phoebe; sister, June Annette Wood (Lonnie); several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Not to be forgotten are her beloved Shih Tzu dogs

     Faith, family, food and fun are the words that come to mind when thinking about our beloved Sarah. She was a Christian, strong in her faith. Sarah loved all animals especially the birds that flocked to her yard. In years passed Sarah enjoyed growing lovely flowers. Sarah was a wonderful Mama, a beloved “Grandma Sarah”, sister, aunt and friend.

     Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with the Rev. Dean Walker conducting the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

     Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
