Sarah Pridgen McKoy, 87, passed peacefully into the Glory of her Lord and Savior on Friday, July 11, 2025 surrounded with love and family.
She was born February 16, 1938 in Kelly, the daughter of Frank McCall Pridgen and Betty Caison Pridgen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear husband, Merrell McKoy, Sr.
Sarah is survived by her children, Merrell McKoy, Jr. (Melissa), Ruby McKoy Yerby (Don); Gregory McKoy, and Renee Brame (Jason); grandchildren, Taylor McKoy (Dora) and Jack Brame; three great grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews including a very special niece, Judy Potter; many extended family members and friends.
Sarah was a faithful member of United Faith Fellowship in Atkinson. She loved with all of her heart and her radiant smile brightened the life of everyone she knew. She was a dedicated and hard worker her whole life and was willing to do anything for anyone at any time. Faith, family, and food are the words that come to mind when thinking of Sarah. She could spend hours, even long into the night, praying, cooking, and talking with those she loved. To her, age was just a number, and nothing could stand in her way. In years past she could take a small amount of ingredients and feed an army of family and friends. Sarah was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. Sarah led a blessed Christian life and was ready to go to her heavenly home.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2025 at Mt. Holly Baptist Church with visitation at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the funeral service. The Rev. Don Yerby and Chaplain Miles Siler will conduct the service.
Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.
