Saron Warman Obituary

Saron (Sandy) Warman passed away on December 30, 2021 in Wilmington, NC.

He was born in Scranton, PA on May 25, 1927 to the late Saron and Helen Warman.

Sandy is preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Robertson Warman; his son, Saron Warman, Jr.; and his stepdaughter, Elizabeth Desmond.

Sandy is survived by his wife, Abigail Lewis Warman; daughters, Wendy Cathrall Gibbons of Dalton, PA, Robin Warman of Elmira, NY, and Kitty Clark of Boxford, MA; stepdaughter, Sarah Desmond Paterson of Neenah, WI; eight grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Sandy graduated from the Choate School in Wallingford, CT. There he was Chairman of the Student Council, a member of the Tennis and Squash Teams, Vice President of the St. Andrews Society, and President of the Drama Club, before serving in the Navy. He then went on to attend and graduate from Yale University in New Haven, CT.

After graduation, he was a Vice President of Third National Bank, then Senior Vice President of Northeastern National Bank in Scranton, PA, until he bought a printing company, Outserts, where he served as President until retirement.

Sandy was very civic minded, serving as President of the Scranton Industrial Development Company, Director of the Lackawanna United Fund, President of the Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Pennsylvania, serving on the Board of the YMCA, President of the Waverly Community House, President of the Yale Alumni Association of NEPA, President of the Waverly Country Club, and as Director of Blue Cross of NEPA.

Sandy was a long-time member of the Scranton Country Club and the Church of the Epiphany. He was an avid tennis player, swimmer, and golfer.

After retirement, he and his wife spent winters in Naples, FL where he gave his time and expertise to Habitat for Humanity.

Sandy will be missed by many. He made the world a better place by his service, love, and contributions.

A memorial service will be held in Waverly, PA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Waverly Community House in Waverly, PA at www.waverlycomm.org.
