Shirley Fay Wilkins Stokley

Shirley Fay Wilkins Stokley, 84, of Wilmington, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 5, 1941, in Wilmington to the late Robert S. and Odie (King) Wilkins.

Shirley was a devoted member of Gibson Avenue Baptist church and will be missed dearly be her church family. Her daughter Rose spent many years as her caregiver and did a wonderful job. Shirley was a loving, caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Shirley is survived by son, Charles Copeland (June Tyner); her daughters, Rose Hill, Debbie Duke; 6 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends that loved and cherished her.  

In addition to her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Stokley; son, Robert Dean Copeland; brother, Cecil Ward; her sisters, Betty Jean Carney, Ila Motte, Tish Alford, Annie McFeeley, Emma Padrick and Nola Hartley.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Gibson Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Rochelle officiating. The family will be receiving friends at Shirley's home at 930 MacMillan Ave Apt. E, Wilmington, NC 28403 throughout the weekend of November 21-November 23 and all are welcome.
