Kay Butler Bowden, 69, of Rocky Point flew without hesitation into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, the Lord's Day, January 29, 2023 at her home.

She was born October 23, 1953 in Wilmington, the daughter of Maurice Butler and Margaret Edwards Butler. In addition to her parents Kay was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Butler.

Kay is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Roger Allen Bowden, Sr.; sons, Roger Allen Bowden, Jr. (Caryn) and Daniel Keith Bowden (Mary-Beth); grandchildren, Caitlyn Suggs (Daniel), Patrick Bowden (Abby), Kylie Anderson (Chris), Landon Bowden, Kyndall Walker, Samantha Bowden, and Elizabeth Bowden; greatgrandchildren, Oakley Bowden, Emberlynn Anderson, Riverlyn Bowden and Malachi Anderson; sister, Nancy Yopp (George); brother, David Butler (Mary); nieces, nephews; many extended family members and friends, all who loved Kay.

She was a faithful member of Cora's Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Kay continuously lived her life with kindness and strength beyond measure. She saw each day as a gift, seeing good in every difficult situation, grateful for everything expecting nothing in return. Not only was Kay a beloved wife, but a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and loyal friend to all who knew her. She was an awesome homemaker and cook, loved her family more than words can express, and leaves a legacy of love to us all.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2023 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Cora's Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Dean Walker conducting the service. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 or to a charity of one's choice.
