ANGIER – Sylvia “Jane” Eakins, 70, passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 at Wake Medical Center in Cary.
She was born September 8, 1950 in Wilmington, the daughter of the Howard Cromartie and Odessa Horrell Cromartie. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Wright Cromartie and his wife, Judy.
Jane is survived by her husband of 52 years, Henry Thomas “H.T.” Eakins of the home; daughter, Kim Eakins (Cregg) of Durham; son, Chris Eakins (Crystal) of Selma; brother, H. G. Cromartie (Wanda) of Tampa, FL; her beloved grandchildren who fondly referred to her as “My Jane”, Mackenzie Sehorn of Angier, Haley Roberts of Durham, and Owen Eakins of Selma; great-grandson, Hudson Mullins of Angier; and many extended family and friends, all who loved Jane.
Jane was an extraordinary woman of God whose resounding faith and love for her family was unmatched. Her brightly shining light often served as a guide to those around her. Those that knew Jane will always remember her passion for growing beautiful flowers, cooking for those she loved and spending holidays with family. She was a true example of what it meant to be a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Her presence in our lives will be forever missed, but we find solace in knowing she is at peace and rejoicing with her Almighty Father.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 9th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 10th at 4:00 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church, 19685 US Hwy 421, Willard, NC 28478. The burial will follow the service at the Eakins Family Cemetery, Willard, NC. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 4:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
