Thomas L. Leonard, age 82, of Wilmington, NC went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Azalea Health and Rehab Center in Wilmington, NC.

He was born on July 20, 1940 in Brunswick County, NC to the late James Lennon Leonard and Ruth Ina Russ Leonard.

Thomas was retired from the Department of Transportation N.C. after working 25 years as a Sign Erector. He was a dedicated and very active member of Park Avenue Baptist Church. Thomas was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a bright light to many people and will be dearly missed.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Jan Smith Leonard; children, Tara Bindewald of Leland, NC, Christopher Pepper (Karen) of Wilmington, NC, and Angela Pepper Jones (Pete) of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren, Jason Rhodes of Leland, NC, Daniel Pepper (Elizabeth) of Wilmington, NC, Michelle Pepper Batts (Brent) of Wilmington, NC, and Damen Thompson of Leland, NC; great-grandchildren, James Rhodes of Leland, NC, Huston Pepper of Wilmington, NC, and Grayson Pepper of Wilmington, NC.

Visitation will be from 1 – 2 pm Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home in Wilmington. Funeral service to follow at 2pm with Pastor David Robinette officiating. A graveside service will follow at Seagate Cemetery, 52nd Street, Wilmington, NC 28409.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, nurses and staff at Azalea Health and Rehab Center, and Park Avenue Baptist Church family and friends.
