Thomas William Rice

Thomas (Tom) William Rice, age 72, of Wilmington, NC passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

He was born on December 31, 1951 in New York, NY to the late Allen E. Rice and Virginia Meade.

Tom, a U.S. Navy Veteran, was a naval flight officer with The Golden Eagles Squadron. He graduated from Archbishop Molloy High School in New York and later attended SUNY Maritime College. Tom was also a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus at St. Therese Catholic Church in Wrightsville Beach, NC. He worked for IBM for over thirty years before retiring. Tom was an avid walker who loved golf and cheering on the New York Yankees. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends.

Tom is survived by his wife, Kathleen Tooher Rice; sons, T.J. Rice, Kevin Rice (Lauren), and Christopher Rice (Elissa); brother, Allen Rice; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church in Wrightsville Beach, NC on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 12:00pm with Father Bill Upah officiating.
