Timothy "Buddy" Wayne Watkins

     Timothy “Buddy” Wayne Watkins, 64, passed from his earthly life, Sunday, January 4, 2026 at his home surrounded with love by family.

     He was born October 16, 1961 in Wilmington, the son of Adrain Watkins and Mary Elizabeth Dukes Basden. In addition to his parents Buddy was preceded in death by his son, John Timothy “JT” Watkins; brothers, Mike Kelly, Butch Hicks, and Tim Kelly; and sister, Judy Thompson.

    Buddy is survived by his wife, Theresa Watkins; daughters, Sabrina Bustellos (Cisco) and Rebecca Hansen; sons, Brandon Stone (Michelle) and Joshua Hackworth (Sarina); grandchildren, Laela, William, Adeline, Andrew, Annabelle, Willow, and Angel; siblings, Ken Watkins (Trina), Lynn Watkins (Ann), Deborah Fowler (Robert), Sean Kelly (Rita), Patricia Vermuele, Kathleen Sigmon (Mike), Karyn Kelly, Chrissy Kelly, and Micheal Hicks; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Not to be forgotten are his furry canine companions which Buddy dearly loved and cared for.

      Buddy lived a full life. Many remember Buddy riding his bicycle around Burgaw. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and his favorite ball team The Washington Redskins. Buddy was a little rough on the outside but had a kind heart of gold on the inside. He would willingly share his last nickel with anyone in need. His presence in our lives will surely be missed.

     A memorial service will be at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Quinn McGowen Funeral Home with Rev. Alton Watkins conducting the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
