Tina Elizabeth Newell

Tina Elizabeth Newell, 58, of Rocky Point, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Pender Memorial Hospital in Burgaw.

She was born on August 30, 1966, in Wilmington to the late Jesse Jerome Newell and the late Martha (Kelly) Russell.

Tina, known as “Grammy”, loved her children and grandchildren above everything and was always there for them as well as the rest of her family. She was the family counselor and veterinarian, caring for everyone and everything whenever she was needed.

Tina had a deep love for her flower beds and bird feeders, spending countless hours tending to them. Her favorite color was red, and she couldn’t get enough of it. She faithfully watched Jeopardy every night with her son, Quinton. Tina loved having her nephew Matt rearrange her furniture and she had a fondness for elephants. She was a bright light to many and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Tina is survived by her son, Quinton Malpass; daughters, Jessica Blake, Randi Malpass, Cienna Malpass; her grandchildren, Adain Peeler, Kailey Fitzgerald, Olivia Blake, Amyah Malpass, Paisley Malpass, Addison Malpass; her sisters, Renea Coates, Robin Williams and husband, David, Kimberly Allan, Janice Koen and husband, Robbie; brother, Bubba Russell and wife, Lauren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Tina was also preceded in death by her former husband, David Malpass; her sister, Dottie Craig; and her brother, Dean Russell.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Wilmington First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
