William Thomas Robins, III, age 85, died Sunday, October 31st, 2021. He was born December 23, 1935 in Beaufort County, N.C. He grew up in the Gloucester Point area of Virginia. He graduated from Gloucester High School where he was an outstanding athlete in all sports. After high school he attended NC State University for one year. While there he played trumpet in the marching band and performed in the Azalea Festival Parade. From there he attended the University of Virginia and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineering for over 30 years.
William (“Bill” to many) enjoyed traveling, pulling his camper, photography, nature, reading, watching sports on television, spending time at the family farm in Kelly, computers and accepting life as God gives it to us. By nature, William was a quiet gentle person, one day at work an employee asked if he ever said anything. The Superior replied; ”Yes, and when he does speak you had better listen”.
William was long time member of Temple Baptist Church where he had served faithfully as Deacon (once as Chairman) Sunday School teacher, member of the Men’s Bible Class and many committees.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Hall Robins, his parents, William T Robins, Jr. and Helen Cooper Robins. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda Henry Robins, his children, Natalie Robins, John (Susan) Robins, Daniel (Tracy) Robins and step-daughter, Margaret Burke, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; Ashley (Eric) Leifheit, Will Robins (Ashton Yarborough), Jamie Robins, Josh Robins, Abbi Robins, Riley Robins, Skylar Robins, Kylie Mobley, Sara Mobley, Jaxon Mobley and Hudson Robins. His mother-in-law, Katherine Hall (age 104) and sister-in-law, Forrest Woodward, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to Temple Baptist Church or Lower Cape Fear Life Care.
The memorial service will be held at 2:00pm Friday, November 5, 2021 at Temple Baptist Church, 1801 Market Street, Wilmington, N.C. The family will greet friends following the service.
