William “Bill” Harold Hamm, Sr. 85, of Burgaw passed gently from his earthly life Friday, September 17, 2021 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice LifeCare.
He was born December 15, 1935 in Wayne County, the son of Luther Owen Hamm and Mildred Virginia Hamm. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William “Bill” H. Hamm, Jr.
Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Faye Rheuark Hamm; sons, Glenn Faircloth and Ronnie Hamm (Vickie); daughter, Lori Hair (Keith); grandchildren, Kayla Thomas (Joel) and Jamie Hair (John); great grandchildren, Wyatt Thomas, Wade Thomas and Colton Hill; and many extended family members.
He was a member of Jordans Chapel United Methodist Church. Bill was retired from the Telephone Company where he worked as a lineman.
Bill was a devoted husband, daddy, granddaddy, great granddaddy, and loyal friend. In his younger years he enjoyed coaching baseball and in his older years was satisfied to watch ball games on TV. Also, loved Western movies. Up until a short time ago Bill kept his yard mowed, planted flowers and shrubs, and was a very active senior citizen. Most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren, who were a joy in his life. His presence in our family circled will certainly be missed.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Jordans Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris O'Briant conducting the service.
Shared memories and condolences may be sent to the family by selecting Tribute Wall.
